iPhysioMeter® is a physiological measurement tool for scientists who are interested in autonomic nervous system activity.
1. Main Function
Measurement of heart rate (HR) and modified normalized pulse volume (mNPV), which show good agreement with results from dedicated laboratory devices, using only the flash and camera of the iPhone and iPod touch (for details, see support HP or manual). Measurement of 3-axis g-forces is also carried out simultaneously for detecting the presence of motion artifacts.
2. How to Use
Gently hold the iPhone or iPod touch so that the tip of the index finger completely covers the camera lens and the LED flash, and run iPhysioMeter® by tapping the iPhysioMeter® icon on the home screen. The measurement will start automatically.
3. Data
All beat-by-beat and raw data that are stored in the iPhone or iPod touchs memory can be checked and sent via e-mail.
4. Settings
The iPhysioMeter® settings are customizable.
5. Environment
You can change the “environment” that is the set of measured data and the settings. This makes it easy to manage concurrent experiments and/or measurements of multiple individuals.
6. Medical Disclaimer
While the results of HR and mNPV are accurate when used properly, iPhysioMeter® is not a medical device or application, and the results should not be used for medical diagnosis or treatment.
